Why do you stay?
I've been working at McDonald's for almost year and I've been wondering why people stay so long. They pay sucks, the workplace is unprofessional, and the raises are insanely low. The main reason I'm still working at McDonald's is because I enjoy 90% of the people there. So why are you still working at McDonald's?

8 years working for McDonald's and still going. I love the store im at. I work overnights. Good group of employees i honestly consider to be friends. The job is pretty much the same every single night. I get whatever day off i need. I have a daughter who i spend my days with so when she sleeps I work. I like working for McDonald's.

This seems like a pretty decent situation.

Nowhere else is going to pay me over $10 an hour starting at 40 hours a week with health insurance as well. Plus working with /u/sithoutcast11 is pretty fun.

Nobody else will pay me as much. I'm a HS dropout, been here for 3 years, and I make $11 an hour. Got $2 in raises this year alone. I can pay my bills and I work overnights so I get to spend time with my girlfriend. It's not a bad gig

The people I work with are what makes it all worth it.
Also, extreme flexibility. I doubt there's many other places that let you go on break whenever you want, step outside for a cigarette break, get lots of free food, have friends as managers, basically do whatever you want, etc.

I got one of those "by the books" McDonald's. Only the unpaid half for breaks and not during peak hours. No smoke breaks. Overachieving managers. Store is always busy. Sometimes so understaffed that one person is running kitchen by themselves.
I'm still there because I need money to live and no one else is hiring right now.

same, the flexible schedule helps a lot with college (also in canada). plus i like my location, my restaurant manager regularly helps out in the kitchen and the franchisee often visits who's also nice. its a big plus if you have a positive work environment, especially when working at minimum wage

It probably depends on the store. Some are worse than others. I enjoy working at my store a lot actually, I get along with most of the people there (if not all), including the GM and all the managers. I'm on my way to becoming a green hat, just waiting for a day where we're not insanely busy so I can interview.

I have a few coworkers I like but it's definitely the flexibility they allow me to have. I play in a band so I have to take a lot of days off for shows and they're totally cool with it. It's very shitty pay, I've worked for McDonald's for 2 years now and I only make $7.80 AND I'm servsafe certified!!! I should be a manager but it's whatever I guess

I've been working at McDonald's for about 5 months, I stay mostly because of my coworkers and I'm too lazy to find a new job

The same reason as you do, the people who work there can't fail to enjoy me during shifts.
